TMS History Club |
The TMS Junior Historian Chapter # 783 is represented on our campus by 7th and 8th grade students. Yearly activities include a fund raiser, regular monthly meetings, the presentation of a local history fair, and a yearly trip to the Texas Junior Historian convention. The TMS group has participated in regional history fairs for several years and students have represented TMS at the state level competition in Austin. Membership is open to all 7th and 8th grade students who have an interest in the study of history and historical research. |

I grew up in
Baytown, Texas. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with
a minor in History at Sam Houston State University and my Master’s at
Stephen F. Austin. After finishing at Sam Houston, I moved to the community
of Tarkington in 1970 and taught my first two years at Shepherd Elementary.
Then I came to Tarkington Elementary where I taught third grade for 31 years
(oh my gosh!) before deciding to make a change. I have always loved history
and am happy to get the chance to teach it.
